Canadian Electronic Library (Canada Commons)
This resource page is for the new Canadian Electronic Library (CEL) on Canada Commons.
CEL Subscription Collection
The Canadian Electronic Library subscription collection used to be called desLibris Complete. desLibris Complete was a combination of two erstwhile collections: desLibris Books, previously known as the Publishers Collection; and desLibris Documents, itself a combination of the former Public Policy/CCPC and Health Research/CHRC collections.
The subscription collection is migrating to Canada Commons. For updates, pricing information, and access details, please see the 2022 CEL offer page in ERMA.
CEL Perpetual Collection
All the Ontario colleges have perpetual rights to a collection of CEL content that was purchased by OCLS from 2011-2013. For more information, please see the Canadian Electronic Library (OCLS-purchased content) resource page.
The Canadian Electronic Library used to include Irwin Law content, but in 2021 it was withdrawn from CEL and sold to vLex. The colleges' CEL perpetual collection includes 125 Irwin Law titles, and OCLS has a consortial offer for the subscription collection. For more information, see the 2022 Irwin Law offer page.
The Canadian Electronic Library used to contain other publisher collections as well as individual titles available for subscription and/or purchase.
Owned content is migrating to Canada Commons for access by the owning college.
Some of this content may also be migrated for inclusion in the complete Canada Commons subscription collection. None of this content, however, will be available for separate subscription and individual title purchasing will no longer be available. The vendor does however still hold rights to some of this content and may be willing to sell collections for local hosting. Please contact OCLS if you're interested in more information.
Content that will be migrated for inclusion in the complete Canada Commons subscription collection include: Ulysses Travel Guides.
CEL is migrating from desLibris to Canada Commons, and will be available on Canada Commons in January 2022. Dual access to both platforms will be available from January through May, after which point desLibris will retire. More information about Canada Commons will be shared with the colleges as its available.
For platform/product information about the CEL subscription collection on desLibris, please see the Canadian Electronic Library (College Subscriptions on desLibris) resource page.
Details are under discussion, but MARC records will be made available. The idea at the moment is that the existing records will not need to be updated and redirects will be in place from desLibris to Canada Commons once desLibris retires.
Details are forthcoming, but the vendor has said that COUNTER stats will be available.
