Literature Criticism Online
From the vendor:
The 10 award-winning Gale series that comprise Literature Criticism Online represent a range of modern and historical views on authors and their works across regions, eras and genres.
The following databases within the Literary Criticism Online collection have been of interest to the colleges:
- Contemporary Literary Criticism
- Children's Literature Review Online
- Drama Criticism Online
- Short Story Criticism Online
- Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism Online
Up-to-date and detailed information about these databases is available on the vendor website.
Several titles on the LCO platform are available for separate subscription or purchase, including Contemporary Literary Criticism.
- Purchase is of specific volumes, and access is subject to the payment of ongoing platform fees.
- Subscription provides access to the current volume and entire backfile. There are no perpetual access options.
LCO (Literature Criticism Online) is the primary platform.
Subscribers also have access to Artemis Literary Sources which is a free platform that cross-searches all of the Gale literary resources available to the subscribing institution.
Some colleges have reported that the institutional UID in Gale access URLs prevents seamless automatic inclusion in discovery tools. You can either export all titles in CSV, batch replace the generic placehold ("loc_id") with your college's UID, and import back into your discovery tool; or you can ask your discovery tool vendor to do this for you.
MARC records for the LCO resources are available for download from the vendor's Accessing MARC Records for Your Gale Resources page. (These records are not available in Gale Admin.) After downloading the records, you must edit them to include your unique location ID. For information, please see this resource from the vendor:
